Established in 1938 as a
college of the University of Sydney, UNE gained autonomy in 1954 and has
grown steadily to become an institution internationally renowned for its
academic excellence and unique study environment.
UNE is
dedicated to serving and caring for international students. Students are
able to interact with the community and experience the unique Australian
lifestyle. Of the 5000 full – time internal students currently enrolled,
approximately 8 percent are international students representing 53
different countries. The cultural diversity of the student population
makes UNE an exciting and vibrant community.
The University of New England is located in the cosmopolitan city of
Armidale, located in the tranquil, picturesque New England region of
northern New South Wales. The city, with population of about 25,000
people, has all the advantages and services of a much larger center,
combined with the warmth and caring of a long – established rural
district. The area’s scenic beauty and relaxed lifestyle provide Armidale
with advantages no other university city can claim, especially those
located in major metropolitan cities. Armidale is just one hour’s flying
time from the cities of Sydney and Brisbane, and two hour’s drive from the
beautiful north coast beaches.
