ICC Asia conference in Bangladesh next month |

Dhaka (UNB)- The ICC Asia Conference will be held next month, for the first time in Dhaka, with the theme --Investment in Developing Countries: Increasing Opportunities. The Bangladesh Chapter of International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), a Paris-based world business organisation, will host the two-day conference beginning November 10. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to open the business conference at Hotel Sonargaon, ICC Bangladesh Chapter president Mahbubur Rahman told newsmen at a press briefing yesterday. About 150 delegates from Belgium, France, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, Oman, Singapore, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, UK and Bangladesh will participate in the conference. The meeting will bring together business leaders, professionals, policy makers, regional executives of multinationals, business lawyers and others to discuss issues of their mutual interests. Trade, investment, development priorities of the Asian region will be main agenda of the meeting. The ICC Bangladesh president said they have invited a number of high profile dignitaries from different countries of Asia and Europe. Among them, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Director General of WTO Dr Supachai Panitchpakdi, ADB president Tadao Chino and ESCAP executive secretary Kim Hak-Su confirmed their participation. Secretary of ICC-Bangladesh Mohiuddin Babar, DCCI president Aftabul Islam and former president of DCCI R Maksud Khan were present, among others, in the press briefing. The ICC, established in 1919, speaks with authority on behalf of enterprises from all sectors in every parts of the world, currently having its network in 137 countries. The Bangladesh National Committee of ICC started its full operation in 1996. ICC-Bangladesh has now about 100 members including leading chambers, banks, insurance, law firms and large business groups having interest in international trade and investment. |
