Bangladesh following prudent macro-economic policy |

Dhaka (UNB) – United States will provide technical assistance to Bangladesh for Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to be used in vehicles to prevent air pollution. Calvin Humphrey, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of US Department of Energy, said this when he called on Finance Minister Shah AMS Kibria at his residence here yesterday, said an official handout. They also discussed the US investment in Bangladesh. Kibria apprised the US official of investment opportunities prevailing in the country. He said Bangladesh is following a prudent macro-economic policy with low inflation rate. A suitable package has been offered to foreign investors and rate of return is high in the country, he added. The finance minister briefed the US delegation on flood situation in the country. The delegation said the US government is considering providing assistance to the flood victims. ERD Secretary Dr Mashiur Rahman, Energy Secretary M Akmal Hossain and US Ambassador in Dhaka Mary Ann Peters were present on the occasion. |
