Aventis goes into official launching today |

Dhaka, May 22 (UNB) – Aventis CropScience, a merger of Rhone-Poulenc SA and Hoechst AG, goes into official launching here tomorrow (Tuesday) attaching special importance on integrated crop management.
“Our objective is to contribute to the production of quality, healthy food in sufficient quantities,” said Aventis MD Russell Brown, at a press conference today (Monday), prior to the launching.
He said Aventis would provide innovative and effective answers to the growing nutritional needs while protect the environment and biodiversity as per the principles of sustainable development.
“Today advanced plant production means reliable harvests. New approaches must be taken to feed the increasing numbers of people. Higher yields and better food quality are just two of the demands.” he said.
The press conference was also attended by Aventis directors DP Bony, MA Islam, MN Haq and MA Khair.
Aventis ranks 5th among the crop production companies operating business in the country with a market share of 8 percent. In seeds, it has a growing position in seven key crops.
With a plan to spend 10 percent of annual sales in research and development, the company would offer the farmers a package instead of a fertiliser or insecticide, officials said.
