Dhaka (UNB) - Executive Chairman of Board of Investment (BOI) M Mokammel Haque sought more investment from Sri Lankan entrepreneurs in Bangladesh to promote bilateral trade. He conveyed the message to High Commissioner of Sri Lanka EG Dayananda, who met him at the BOI office yesterday (Thursday). The Sri Lankan envoy expressed his satisfaction over the existing friendly relation between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and hoped to further enhancing bilateral trade and investment relations. M Mokammel Haque appreciated the initiative and efforts taken by EG Dayananda to strengthen bilateral relation and promotion of Sri Lankan investment in Bangladesh. Referring to the recently introduced Dhaka-Colombo direct air-link, Haque said it was a long felt demand of the business circle. He hoped that it would play a vital role in expanding business. Seeking further investment from Sri Lanka, the BOI executive chairman described the present investment scenario including the government's initiatives to attract more foreign investment. Issues of quick disposal of visa and work permit for repatriate workers, expertise exchange in port management, cooperation in agro-processing industry and low cost housing also came up for discussion. For further enhancement and strengthening of existing trade and investment relation, both sides attached due importance on maintaining continued contact between the two countries.
