China seals WTO agreement with Ecuador |

BEIJING (AP) - China and Ecuador have finalized an agreement on Chinese entry into the World Trade Organization, clearing one of the final hurdles to Beijing's joining global trade's rule-making club, state media reported Wednesday. China's chief WTO negotiator Long Yongtu and Roberto Betancourt, Ecuador's ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, signed the pact at a ceremony in the Swiss city, where the WTO is headquartered, China Central Television reported in its evening broadcast. China must still reach agreements with Mexico and Switzerland and then negotiate details of its membership with the WTO. Mexican and Chinese negotiators are expected to meet in Geneva Thursday to outline negotiations over the coming weeks. |
