Dhaka (UNB) - Bangladesh yesterday (Wednesday) sought easier access of her products to the European Union, the largest trade partner of the country. Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) made the appeal during a briefing session with the ambassadors of the EU countries, including Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Italy and France. In the meeting, EPB vice chairman AB Chowdhury apprised the envoys of recent steps taken by the bureau for boosting export and local exporters’ problems in exporting to the EU countries. The ambassadors assured full cooperation in further strengthening the trade relations between Bangladesh and the countries under the EU. Accompanied by senior officials of the EPB and Foreign Ministry, they later visited the exhibition centre of the EPB. The products Bangladesh export to the EU countries include readymade garments, hosiery, frozen food and shrimp, leather and leather goods, jute and jute goods, tea, ceramics and fresh vegetables. |
