Gopalganj (UNB) – A 15.2 crore countrywide credit programme was launched here yesterday (Monday) with distributing Tk 17.5 lakh among distressed people and unemployed youths. Youth Development Department has taken up the programme, marking the 25th death anniversary of Bangabandhu. State Minister for Youth, Sports and Cultural Affairs Obaidul Quader handed over cheques to 231 distressed people and unemployed youths in Tungipara and Kotalipara. Speaking on the occasion, the state minister said the credit programme has been launched to make the country’s unemployed youths self-reliant and thus establish a poverty-free Bangladesh as dreamt by father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Also present at the programme were DG of the Youth Development Department M Zahiruddin Bhuiyan, DC Iqbal Mahmud and local leaders of Awami League, according to an official handout. |
