Chittagong (UNB) – The weekly tea sale here Wednesday saw buyers from Pakistan and Afghanistan continuing to operate actively, especially for well-made and good liquoring types. Internal loose tea buyers were fairly active whilst blenders lent more support for all good liquoring types. As a result, prices were generally maintained and were often dearer for all the liquoring teas, said a market report of National Brokers Limited yesterday (Thursday). CTC Leaf: 10,337 chests, 11,305 gunny sacks, 70 paper sacks and (69 chests, 555 gunny sacks of old season) on offer continued to meet with a strong demand. Brokens: Well made good liqouring medium and smaller Brokens were once again a strong market selling at around last levels whilst medium liqouring types eased by up to Tk 2. Plain and fibrous types were substantially dearer. Large Brokens met with a strong competition and were dearer, often by Tk 3 and more. Fannings: Well made better liqouring types were a stronger market and were often dearer whilst their medium types were a good market but eased by up to Tk 2. Plainer types were once again a dearer market. Green Tea: 340 chests on offer. FYH sold at Tk 100 whilst all YHs were withdrawn. CTC Dust: 1,200 chets, 2,615 gunny sacks and (5 gunny sacks old season) on offer met with an improved demand. Well made better liqouring sorts were again a strong feature of the sale advancing by up to Tk 5. Others sold around last levels with plainer liqouring types appreciating slightly over last. Pakistan was active on liqouring sorts with internal buyers, particularly blenders, lending good support. |
