Dhaka (UNB) – Experts at a workshop here have emphasised on activating farming system research and development to boost production and ensure socio-economic development in the country. The suggestion came at the concluding session of the four-day workshop on ‘Annual Progress Review and Programme Development of Farming System Research and Development (FSRD) Programme 2000’ here this (Wednesday). Bangladesh Agriculture Research Council (BARC) is implementing the FSRD programme in 17 sites of the country with financial assistance from the World Bank. The concluding session was addressed, among others, by Member Director (Planning) of BARC Dr M Nurul Alam and National Coordinator of FSRD Dr MA Razzaque. Some 225 agricultural experts from different agriculture research institutions, Department of Agriculture Extension, Department of Fisheries and Livestock and NGOs took part in the four-day deliberation. |
