Dhaka (UNB) - Speaker Humayun Rasheed Chowdhury has sought Norwegian assistance for setting up a Natural Gas and Petroleum Studies Institute in Sylhet. His request for the assistance came when Norwegian Ambassador in Dhaka Gerd Wahlstrom made a courtesy call on him at his Sangasad Bhaban office yesterday. The Speaker told the Norwegian envoy that natural resources, including gas, are in plenty in Sylhet, "but our experience is inadequate to explore those." The Norwegian envoy gladly accepted the proposal and assured the Speaker of putting forward it to his government for consideration. He also informed the Speaker of his government's willingness to extend cooperation in other fields, according to a Parliament Secretariat press release. |
