Khulna (UNB) - Khulna Newsprint Mills is on verge of closure, as production in two units, out of three, remained suspended for technical faults. Official sources said that production of unit 1 remained suspended from July 19 and unit 3 from August 1 decreasing the output sharply. The mills produced some 1,151 tons of newsprint in May against the demand of 3,500 tons from the newspaper industries. Production in the months of June and July also came down creating acute crisis to its dependent industries. A high official of the mill preferring anonymity said present situation has been created for not solving the existing problems in time. "Despite the sufficient stock of raw materials and fuel, it will take time to go for full-fledge production", he added. |
