India to provide Bangladesh with credit of Rs 200 crore |

Dhaka (UNB) - India government is likely to provide Bangladesh a credit of Rs 200 crore in addition to Rs 200 crore given earlier. Information about the additional Rupee credit was communicated by Indian Finance Minister Yashwant Sing to his Bangladesh counterpart SAMS Kibria at a bilateral meeting in Prague on Tuesday. They are in Prague to attend the joint annual meeting of World Bank and IMF. An official message received here yesterday said the credit agreement would be negotiated and signed during Indian Finance Minister's forthcoming visit to Bangladesh in the last week of October or first week of November. Sing assured Kibria of India's continued co-operation for mutual benefit of the two countries. He also expressed his desire to see the SAARC Finance Ministers meeting to be held without further delay. Kibria thanked the Indian government for providing credit to Bangladesh and underlined the need for enhanced cooperation between the two countries in trade and industry, particularly joint venture investments in industrial sector. They also discussed issues of bilateral interest and of regional and global concern. Bangladesh Bank governor Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, Economic Relations Division (ERD) Secretary Dr AKM Masihur Rahmam, Finance Secretary Dr Akbar Ali Khan and Indian officials concerned were present during the meeting. |
