Dhaka (UNB) - A meeting at the Commerce Ministry yesterday found "satisfactory" the price and supply situation of essential commodities, except imported items, said an official handout. Traders said the price of imported items increased slightly due to devaluation of Taka against dollar. The meeting, chaired by Commerce Minister Abdul Jalil, was attended by Mohammad Selim MP, Makbul Hossain MP, EPB vice chairman AB Chowdhury, trade association leaders and officials concerned. The traders proposed for reduction of duty on some items for a limited period to maintain static prices of essentials, including onion, ginger and edible oil, during the holy month of Ramjan. The commerce minister said the government will take steps to maintain a stable market in the interest of consumers. |
