Dhaka,- The country has earned Tk 72734.85 crore through employment of 30,11,890 workers abroad since 1976 to June this year. This was disclosed in a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Labour and Employment Ministry yesterday (Thursday). Chaired by committee chairman Abdul Latif Mirza, the meeting discussed elaborately the steps taken for expansion of labour market abroad. A seven-member parliamentary team headed by the Standing Committee chairman was to leave for Saudi Arabia, Arab Emirates and Bahrain yesterday to explore labour market for job opportunities and visit the places of expatriate Bangladeshi workers there. Another parliamentary delegation headed by committee member Syed Wahidul Alam will also visit Malaysia and Singapore from October 5. The meeting was told that Wages Commission report for the workers would be implemented soon. Committee members Afsaruddin Ahmed Khan, Fazlur Rahman Khan, Nur Mohammad Mondol, Syed Wahidul Alam and Alamgir Haider Khan attended the meeting. |
