Dhaka (UNB) - A new board, `Bangladesh Haor and Water Bodies Development Board', aiming to develop the socioeconomic condition of the people of north and northeastern regions has been formed.

The 12-member board has been constituted with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as its Chairperson, said an official handout yesterday.

The other members of the board are ministers for Local Government, Finance, Forest and Environment, Water Resources, Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock, and State ministers for Land and Planning, and three members of parliament approved by the government.

Meanwhile, a nine-member working committee has been formed with the Water Resources Minister as its convenor.
