Gopalganj,
June 14 (UNB) – An extensive Aus and transplanted Aman cultivation
scheme in 33,000 hectares of land has been undertaken in five upazilas
of the district in the current season.
Local
Agricultural Extension Department (AED) sources said of the total,
20,000 hectares will be brought under Aus and the rest 13,000 hectares
under Aman cultivation in Muksudpur, Kashiani, Kutalipara, Sadar and
Tungipara upazilas.
Bangladesh
Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) will supply seeds and
pesticides and other necessary inputs for the successful
implementation of the scheme.
AED
sources said that the bumper production of paddy and other crops might
be achieved in the district as Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB)
has taken up massive irrigation project since 1998.
