May 26 (UNB)- Police arrested three alleged dacoits from Senhati
village in Digholia of Khalispur thana in the city Tuesday and seized
12 barrels of diesel from their possessions.
Police
said a gang of pirates looted 1,5000 liters of fuel, a mobile phone
set and cash about Tk 50,000 from a river vessel, ‘Gumti’, coming
from Chittagong near Meghna Oil Company office here Monday night.
Following
a case filed by the vessel master, Khalispur police raided the village
and arrested Sujon Hossain, Joyenuddin Sikdar and Hafizur Rahman
Tuesday morning.
Another
report from Sherpur adds: Police nabbed five gamblers from a hotel in
the town Tuesday.
Acting
on a tip-off, police raided the “Asha Guesthouse” at Ragunathpur
Bazar in the town at about 5pm and arrested Atiqur Rahman, Azahar Ali,
Rahizuddin, Rabiul Alam and Shahjahan along Tk 5000 and two sets of
playing cards.
