July 11 (UNB) – A total of 26 cases were filed with four police
stations of the city under Public Security Act since its enactment on
January 30.
Of
the cases, five were disposed of, awarding 19 people to various terms
of imprisonment while charge sheets were submitted to the court in the
remaining 15 cases.
Official
sources said highest 17 cases were filed with Sadar thana where
charge-sheets were submitted in 10 cases.
They
said the first case under PSA was filed on April 4 against two muggers
who were later sentenced to eight years rigorous imprisonment.
No
case was filed with Khanjahan Ali police under PSA, the officials
said.
