Apr 17 (UNB) – Medical services in hospitals of the district are
seriously being hampered as over 50 percent posts of physician and
health worker have long been lying vacant.
Official
sources said 93 posts, out of 163, in Sadar Hospital, thana health
complexes and other government health centers in the district could
not yet be filled up despite repeated appeals.
In
the 100-bed Sadar Hospital, considered as a dependable healthcare
center for 26 lakh people of the district, the posts of Dental
Surgeon, ENT and pathological technicians are lying vacant, inflicting
sufferings on the patients.
The
Dental Surgeon of the hospital is now working in Rajshahi on
deputation.
When
asked the Civil Surgeon of the district said the higher authorities
have already been informed about the dismal condition of the hospital.
