Naogaon,
Apr 18 (UNB) – The district has immense potentials to grow turnip as
soil and climate here proved to be more suitable for its cultivation.
Agriculture
officials said the demand for foreign turnip has marked a rise in the
country in recent times and our growers could easily grab its market.
The
ideal time for cultivation of turnip is Falgoon to Jaishtha and it
could be harvested within 7-8 months of cultivation.
According
to the officials, the land which has adequate organic and drainage
system is best for its farming. Cow dung, waste, urea and DAP
fertilizers and potash could be used for a good harvest.
At
least 25 mts of turnip could be procured from every hectare of land if
proper care is taken. Some vegetables like lalshak and radish can also
be cultivated on the same land alongside turnip, they said.
