          Apr 18 (UNB) – The district has immense potentials to grow turnip as
          soil and climate here proved to be more suitable for its cultivation. 
          
          
           
          Agriculture
          officials said the demand for foreign turnip has marked a rise in the
          country in recent times and our growers could easily grab its market.
          
           
           
          
           
          The
          ideal time for cultivation of turnip is Falgoon to Jaishtha and it
          could be harvested within 7-8 months of cultivation.
          
           
           
          
           
          According
          to the officials, the land which has adequate organic and drainage
          system is best for its farming. Cow dung, waste, urea and DAP
          fertilizers and potash could be used for a good harvest.
          
           
           
          
           
          At
          least 25 mts of turnip could be procured from every hectare of land if
          proper care is taken. Some vegetables like lalshak and radish can also
          be cultivated on the same land alongside turnip, they said.
