Rangpur,
May 14 (UNB) – The boro output in greater Rangpur and Dinajpur zones
is unlikely to achieve the target this season due to extensive crop
damage caused by hailstorms.
Agricultural
Extension Department had expected that some 9,20,170 mts of boro paddy
would be produced from 4,84,300 hectares of land in Rangpur,
Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, Niphamari, Gaibandha, Dinajpur, Thakurgaon and
Panchagarh.
But
paddies on about 60,000 hectares of land in the districts were damaged
by hailstorms in last one month, obscuring the chances of bumper
production.
