Child rights organizations urge an end to use of child soldiers

NEW DELHI, MAY 12 (AP) - After a fierce battle between the Sri Lankan military and Tamil rebels last year, 49 child soldiers were found among the 140 rebel dead. Thirty-two of them were girls 11-15 years old.

Depressed men, not women, face greater risk of heart death

CHICAGO, MAY 8 (AP) - New research gives depressed men something else to lament: They face an increased risk of dying from heart disease. 

 

While previous research has shown that depression in men and women is linked to heart disease, a study published in Monday's Archives of Internal Medicine found that only men faced an increased risk of heart disease-related death.

Diarrhea affected 7000 in last four months at Barisal Division

Barisal, May 5 (UNB) - Diarrhea, a waterborne disease, claimed 164 lives in Barisal division last year.

 

Health officials said some 1,687 people died of the disease in six districts of the division in last seven years.
